Beneteau is a French manufacturer of sailing and motor boats, with production facilities in France and the United States.

In 1884, in the small town of Croix de Vie in western France, Benjamin Beneteau built his shipyard. The first ships lowered from the stocks of the Beneteau shipyard were wooden sailing fishing trawlers. The shipyard began to produce motor boats since 1912, and they were also fishing, primarily adapted for fishing tuna. The founder of the shipyard managed it until 1928, when, having reached his majority, the reins of power were taken by his son Andre. At that time, the shipyard flourished. Neither the war, nor the country's domestic financial and political problems could affect the importance of fishing boats for French fishermen, and therefore the shipyard successfully continued to build them.

Having existed for 80 years without any changes, in 1964 the Beneteau family shipyard, managed by the third generation, changed its image. Fundamental changes also affected the principles of construction - it was decided to use the most modern technologies and new materials, in particular fiberglass, and types of boats - since 1964 the shipyard has been producing boats not only for professional fishing, but also boats and yachts for recreation and yachting . The latest history of the company dates back to 1965, when the Beneteau shipyard exhibited the first development embodying a new concept of the company at the boat exhibition in Paris. Participation in that exhibition completely changed the fate of the company and brought it to a new level.

Beneteau was among the world leaders in the production of yachts in 1982. The next step forward - the successful release of Beneteau shares on the Paris Stock Exchange - was timed to coincide with the centenary of the shipyard in 1984. Gradually acquiring new shipyards, and quite well-known in the market (Lagoon, Jeanneau, CNB, Wauquiez), the Beneteau company grows and turns into a group of companies - the Beneteau Group. In addition to the main activity, which remains shipbuilding, the company is developing the real estate sector, as well as building Microcar cars with fiberglass bodies (these cars can be driven without a driver’s license).

Currently, Beneteau is the largest European manufacturer of yachts (sailing and motor) and boats. In Europe, Beneteau has about 25% of the market, in France - more than 40%. In Russia, as well as in Europe, boats of this company are highly respected and in the same demand, both among professionals and amateurs.
